2 different monsters

watch the film again, and tell me there arent two monsters. there's a mama, and a baby.

so what, it destroys the "oil tanker", it decapitates lady liberty, runs into the middle of manhattan, rubs the parasites off and destroys the woolworth building.... and then it runs back to the harbor, jumps back into the water, destroys the bridge, jumps back out, and continues to terrorize the city?

makes no sense.

the monster we see before the subway scene, and subsequent early scenes is big. the monster we see after that is HUGE. the monster we see being bombed by the b2 has huge, out-turned elbows. it's the size of a damn building. the monster we see eating hud is perspectively much smaller, and has double-jointed elbows. j.j. abrams is famous for weaving mysteries AND having continuity. we're waiting on part 3 of the manga, and the sequel. there's no reason or "error" in showing 2 different anatomies of the "same" monster in the film. there are secrets here.

in my opinion, there are two monsters. the first to emerge is the baby. the one we end up seeing eat hud. the second one we see, is the one mostly in the film, the HUGE one, the mama. mama is chasing her baby. chaos ensues.

People would but it is surely not in theatres anymore but you that would be a good idea for to see the movie again cause there might be a baby monster and a mama. --Annihilation By The Hands Of God 17:23, 17 March 2008 (PDT)

well, no one report me, but i recently acquired a bootleg that is actually pretty decent quality. and it still seems this way to me. being able to pause really helps. the size differences still seem to be there, and the biggest being how the arms look at the end of the film. now that we all know that the official DVD release if 4/22, it'll be easier for lots of people to be able to tell. TWO alternate endings... i can't wait.

About it jumping back into the water... maybe it was just following the huge crowds of people? That seems more likely than there being a mom, because J.J. said that the monster was "spooked... looking for it's mother". I don't know, but we will find out... eventually.

There are two different monsters. If you compare the photos of the monster when it is over the subway station, and the photo before it eats Hud, you can see that they have two different bottom jaws. The one that eats Hud has two teeth on it's bottom jaw, while the one above the subway does not. Person1 21:13, 3 May 2008 (EST)

Ay yi yii, I guess I outta bring some sense into this section. Look. It is one monster. ONE monster. It looks different from other angles, but it is still ONE monster. I can tell you why for every single "clue" you have for there being two different monsters. Like the bottom jaw thing. From the angle of Hud's sperspective above the subway, the monster's bottom jaw looks different. But if you look at another piece of footage (I like the top of Time Warner clip) you can easily what the monster looks like closed mouth-open mouth. Any more of you "mother-baby monster" people wanna take a swing at another theory? I'd be glad to debunk it.--Oxico 05:38, 4 May 2008 (PDT)

Esophagi scene

"The scenes depicting the esophogi were removed from Cloverfield by JJ Abramms."

I thought the scene wasn't shot in the first place.

It was. I have heard in a few places that the scenes were removed. "Abramms didn't like the idea of feeding tubes using teeth as fingers." I heard that quote somewhere, but I'm probably paraprashing.--Oxico 03:46, 17 June 2008 (PDT)
