The Splinter of Amnion is a spherical object that has the power to control The Monster in Cloverfield/Kishin. The cult the worships the monster as a god calls it "God's Vestige" (a "vestige" is a part of an animal with no known purpose). The cult says that since the monster cannot control its "insane power", so a human could control it. The Splinter of Amnion recieved its name from Tagruato. An "amnion" is a membranous sac which holds unborn babies, and a splinter is a part or small bit of something larger. Thus, the "Splinter of Amnion" is a piece of the monster's egg.
